* Carlit–Campcardos Massif

Massif du Carlit - Campcardos
Massif du Carlit - Campcardos

Marking the divide between the Atlantic climate, where the dominant influence is from the west, and the Mediterranean climate, which is greatly influenced by the south-easterly wind, the Carlit–Campcardos Massif dominates Capcir and Cerdagne.

Crossed by the Carol valleys to the west and bordered by the Haute vallée de l’Aude to the east, this      area is the location of the highest peaks of the Catalan Pyrenees (Carlit – 2921m, Puig Pedrós – 2905m). From the Carlit lake plateau, you will be blown away by the scenery of these ancient glacier valleys, covered today by lakes. To reach this massif, make the most of the unspoiled nature of the Angoustrine, Galbe, La Lladure and Campcardos valleys. The site is recognised as an Area of Special Conservation Interest under the scope of Natura 2000.
