* Carlit–Campcardos Massif
Marking the divide between the Atlantic climate, where the dominant influence is from the west, and the Mediterranean climate, which is greatly influenced by the south-easterly wind, the Carlit–Campcardos Massif dominates Capcir and Cerdagne.
Crossed by the Carol valleys to the west and bordered by the Haute vallée de l’Aude to the east, this area is the location of the highest peaks of the Catalan Pyrenees (Carlit – 2921m, Puig Pedrós – 2905m). From the Carlit lake plateau, you will be blown away by the scenery of these ancient glacier valleys, covered today by lakes. To reach this massif, make the most of the unspoiled nature of the Angoustrine, Galbe, La Lladure and Campcardos valleys. The site is recognised as an Area of Special Conservation Interest under the scope of Natura 2000.

Madres–Coronat Massif
At the crossroads of Occitan and Catalan culture, the Madres-Coronat massif forms one of the first high eastern summits of the Pyrenees range. Due to its geographical location, it encompasses all the stages of Catalan Pyrenees’ vegetation. Far from the crowd, you will be able to explore at your own pace the succession of holm oak forests which give way to pine forests, taking in along the way pubescent oaks, beeches and firs. The site is recognised as an Area of Special Conservation Interest under the scope of Natura 2000.

Puigmal – Cambre d’Aze Massif
To the south of the Catalan Pyrenees, forming France’s natural border with Spain, the Cambre d’Aze and Puigmal massif covers over 15km from east to west, taking in peaks and steep ridges. The Cirque du Cambre d’Aze, the symbol of this formation, has such an unusual shape that it has become the origin of many legends. The grooves that make up the valleys of Vanéra, Err, Sègre, Eyne, Orri and Carança provide multiple entry points for hikers wishing to truly experience this massif, which offers breathtaking views over Cerdagne and the entire Catalan Pyrenees. Stretching as far as Carança, the site is recognised as an Area of Special Conservation Interest under the scope of Natura 2000.
